Active Learning

As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:

• Define the concept of active learning.
• Identify or explain the benefits of active learning approaches in the classroom.
• Explain some of the psychological theory and research that supports the effectiveness of active learning.
• Involve students in team-based or cooperative learning experiences.
• Use a variety of existing active learning techniques to enhance their classroom experiences.
• Create assignments and classroom activities that take an active learning approach.
