Evaluating Student Achievement through Testing and Writing
As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:
- Create assessment tools in relationship to established learning outcomes.
- Identify and apply a wide variety of assessment strategies to most effectively facilitate student learning.
- Create assessment tools that address higher order thinking skills as identified in Bloom's Cognitive Taxonomy.
- Integrate test analysis and correction as part of the student learning process.
- Create and use rubrics to guide assessment of qualitative, subjective, critical thinking assignments, e.g. essays, opinion papers, reflections.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments as well as "alternative assessments" to more effectively address different learning styles.
