Instructional Strategies

As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:

  • Establish clear student learning outcomes.
  • Identify and apply a wide variety of instructional strategies, e.g. Active Learning, Direct vs. Indirect instruction.
  • Facilitate student learning by aligning instructional methods with established learning outcomes.
  • Determine the value of currently used strategies.
  • Relate the levels of learning in Bloom's Cognitive Taxonomy to methods of instruction.
  • Develop a "learner-centered" instructional philosophy.
  • Move student learning from lower level thinking skills to higher level thinking skills according to Bloom's Cognitive Taxonomy.
