Managing the Learning Environment

As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:

  • Determine how room arrangement and teacher placement impacts attentiveness.
  • Compare models for managing the classroom environment and student behavior.
  • Choose among several strategies to increase student participation in classroom discussions.
  • Encourage students to become more responsible for their behaviors and choices.
  • Use the syllabus to create clear and reasonable instructor expectations to guide student behavior.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of motivation and motivational strategies.
  • Identify and explain the components of effective classroom and instructional management.
