Online Instructional Strategies

As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:

  • Identify and apply a wide variety of instructional strategies which are applicable in an online learning environment, e.g. Active Learning, Direct versus Indirect instruction.
  • Facilitate student learning by aligning instructional methods with established learning outcomes in both interactive asynchronous and synchronous methods.
  • Determine the value of currently used strategies by familiarizing the student with a variety of current web platforms.
  • Relate the levels of learning in Bloom's Cognitive Taxonomy to methods of instruction for online learning.
  • Develop a "learner centered" instructional philosophy appropriate to online learning styles.
