As a result of attending this workshop, faculty attendees will be able to:

• Define service learning.
• Explain the difference between service learning, civic engagement and volunteerism.
• Integrate service learning components into a syllabus for an academic course.
• Distinguish between the types of service learning courses.
• Identify the key elements of service learning.
• Demonstrate an understanding of pre and post reflection in a service learning course.
• Develop service learning activities that address community needs.
• Establish guidelines for developing community partnerships for service learning courses.
